Who? How? Why? This is what a #Recount exposes: The jacking of our democracy. Problem: a recount can’t count votes that went pffft!

St. Croix County, #Wisconsin: Five of the nine machines being used in the #Recount have tampered seals. Blame the Russians, Gov. Walker?

Rumors holding Wisconsin "recount observers" discovered tampered state voting machines conflated warranty labels with security seals.

I guess now, folks here will tell me -- like the white wing Trump folks did during GE -- that Snopes is unreliable (they also said it was a liberal site started by George Soros, and similar BS).

GOPers. There is no evidence of tampering on election day, yet we claim there is. We can make a case for gerrymandering and suppression, but that is not what's being claimed.

Clinton and her team accept the truth.

It is embarrassing that so many people are clinging to this desperate futile hope that somehow the vote will be overturned in spite of having absolutely 0 evidence that anything is wrong. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And the scam artists pushing these recounts can't even be bothered to pull their heads from their asses long enough to make sure they are looking at what they think they are.

This should be the end of whatever tiny scrap of reputation Palast had left. But sadly it probably won't be.

A removed or tampered with seal does not mean that the machine has been f'd with. It's a strong possibility but it is not definitive by any means. However unlike a busted hymen, a busted seal on a voting machine is cause for concern. Even if it is a warranty seal.... those things need inspecting.

that a person has had intercourse. It never has. That's an old myth that really never was true.

So, the analogy fails because the comparison is faulty.

The metaphor implies identical situations. Something IS something else. A simile is comparative. Something is LIKE something else. However in asserting identical equivalance, the metaphor is still is a comparison. Something that is identical to something else is exactly like that thing.

It's too fine a point, really, in this discussion.

A seal on a machine is NOT a hymen, clearly. It's not very much like a hymen, either, since the simile is so badly flawed.

My reaction was reflexive and out of anger, as you can tell. For weeks I and many many many others have been periodically murmuring "We are so fucked." And you are right -- it doesn't mean we want to waste a lot of time extending the metaphor.

sexism when it happens. and lemme guess, you're a man, or one of those self-proclaimed "feminists" who's always so eager to show that she's "one of the guys." that's my point. do you go around using other highly bigoted, offensive language, and then justify it by saying, "hey, my point was still legit"? if so, you're probably not helping whatever cause you're trying to help. this should be basic common sense.
