I do not want to set precedent for electors deciding to overturn the will of the people (however flawed or rigged the elections were). Otherwise, we'll have a democracy where elections mean nothing and 535 members of the electoral college can appoint whomever they want as POTUS.

We are going through just the type of process our Constitution mandates. But the result is, sadly, inevitable. That doesn't mean we shouldn't go through it.
