are those who think that mental illness isn't real. They don't seem to understand that the brain is just like any other organ in the body. That is, it can become diseased. When your brain is diseased, your thoughts and feelings aren't normal. The root of the problem isn't your thoughts and feelings. It's the disease in your brain. But many people just see the thoughts and the feelings and don't understand why you can't get over it or, my favorite, "just snap out of it."

I know you understand these things, HS. I thought it would be a good companion to the cartoon.

I'm sure that such comparisons for all mental disorders would work well for some disorders and fail for others.

But yes, I think the idea behind the poster is that 'caring' people who interact with persons with mental disorders often don't 'get' that their advice they give isn't helpful and betrays misunderstanding. Berating people because their demeanor and/or behavior follows the symptomology for their disorders makes little sense.
