Gun-control bills advance in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO -- A package of bills that would once again give California the nation's toughest gun-control laws passed a key legislative hurdle Tuesday, setting up a white-hot Capitol showdown.

The Assembly Committee on Public Safety hearing offered a preview of that battle, as dozens of gun-control advocates -- including some who have lost loved ones to violent crime -- faced off against gun-rights supporters who believe that a basic freedom is threatened.

By the hearing's end, the committee had voted along party lines to approve bills that would add all semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines to the state's list of banned assault weapons; ban owning any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, including existing ones; ban bullet buttons that allow fast swapping of rifle magazines; require long-gun buyers to pass a written safety test; and add more crimes to the list of those that would bar someone from carrying a firearm. The bills, already passed by the state Senate, are moving inexorably closer to floor votes and the governor's desk.

Tuesday's votes followed similar actions Monday in the Senate Appropriations Committee, which voted to approve an Assembly bill aimed at prohibiting firearms in homes where any resident is legally barred from owning one, unless they're locked up or carried by a lawful owner.

tactic. Some who have been banned here for trollish behavior, are now posting duplicates of OPs (such as this one) in the Gungeon with the attendant propaganda that was being underhandedly spread on this Group. Ironically, this only proves their NRA loyalties and outs them for their attempted deception in this Group. At least they are out in the open now, and showing their true NRA colors.

Sad. Really sad.

If they're out in the open, it's that much easier to add them to your ignore list.

person on ignore, and he is a Gungeoneer who is an unbalanced stalker. I just really feel sorry for the Gungeoneers who are so desperate for material that they need to copy others' OPs. Originality is not one of their strong suits as evidenced by their propensity to repeatedly post NRA-produced propaganda and massaged "statistics."

The NRA and the Gungeoneers are slowly losing the gun control battle, and the majority of non-extremist Americans are beginning to see the very real carnage caused by the unfettered proliferation of guns in this country. Of the 80 million gun owners in the USA, only 4 million of them are NRA members. It's a safe bet that this radical gun-worshiping 4 million (including DU's Gungeoneer right-wingers) does NOT speak for anywhere close to ALL gun owners.

Ignore list? Nah, they're comical to watch as they get all puffed up about themselves and their big old guns.
