It was ONLY her arm. I didn't read if it was a soft tissue or a bone injury. Gawd.

I meant to post on a thread that discussed this article:

Dad Posts Meddling Note Sent Home by Teacher over Packed Lunch

"Big brother..........At least get your facts straight before intruding. I was aware of her lunch contents. Four pieces of ham, low fat string cheese, pickles, 4 marshmallows, and a small piece of dark chocolate (she did have 2 extra pieces, one for her brother and another for a friend who we know well and her parents are ok with this). There were no crackers. Sure, I'd liked her to pack a few more veggies and maybe a piece of fruit, but we compromise on pickles occasionally. How would you respond to this note?"

How it went cross-ways, I cannot say. I can't even find the thread now.

I must look like a real jerk.

For the record, I do not think that a little girl being shot is a laughing matter and I retract anything that might be interpreted that way.

result in any legal disciplinary action against the adult.

Here in Texas if you DUI with a minor in the car you can be charged with both the DUI and child endangerment. But gunz is soooooo special.

charges laid against a parent whose child gets hold of a firearm and shoots themselves or others.

It was a "tragic accident".

Let that same child get his hands on Drano and ingest it and the parent gets walloped with a neglect or endangerment charge.

Once a gun enters the picture, there is danger. All you can do is try to limit the danger. But "gun safety" is a misnomer.

I hate it when the little kids find a gun and shoot one another. It would engender a lifetime of guilt.

All in all gun safety is important but for God's sake check the chamber. Yikes.
