The Bank of Happiness in Estonia (this is precisely what Wishadoo should be used for!!!)

Estonia's capital, Tallinn, is considered one of the world's leading "smart" cities, where the government and businesses alike rely heavily on computer technology.

But one group in the Estonian capital is using the Internet for something completely different: an online forum that markets good deeds.

<snip>

"But a little bit later, I thought, 'Wow, [the] Bank of Happiness is perfect for this economic crisis and a lot of people are unemployed and they can use our bank,' " she adds.

So how does it work? It's simple: You register using your real name and post what you are offering or what your need is, as long as it doesn't involve cash or products.

Please check out Wishadoo! and our Wishlist (with MANY categories) which is like a "craigslist of compassion."

So many tools there...we could be doing so much more...

It was never intended to be solely about critical needs, though given the state of things, that is how it has evolved, at least here on DU.

There are so many kindnesses we could share in myriad ways -- with those in our actual physical communities, as well as our online friends. There's even an activity point system that I have yet to activate that could, literally, be used as currency as the community grows to include more businesses, etc.

It's been like pulling teeth to get DUers to use the site beyond the periodic cries for help.

Maybe I need to post this article and draw the connection to Wishadoo in GD or something.

that we can do good things as a people, it is more our true nature, I would think.

Wishadoo! is a wonderful place and should be used more...I myself have to admit I tend to fall in the negativity hole and forget to hang out in more positive places online.
