Warriors hold off Pelicans after blowing most of big lead

In looking around the Warriors’ postgame locker room Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t altogether obvious whether they had beaten New Orleans in Game 1 of the teams’ best-of-seven, first-round series.

Many of the players cleared out of Oracle Arena quickly, instead of hanging around and messing around with their phones. There was very little talk and certainly no laughing. There wasn’t a peep of music.

“The last two years, you’re the hunters. Now you’re the hunted,” said Warriors power forward Draymond Green, who graded his team’s effort a B-minus or C-plus. “The world expects you to win, so I guess there is a little more pressure.”

The Warriors did win, 106-99. But the world expects them to win big.
