While the President is considered the "Commander-in-Chief" of the military, according to the Constitution, the military ultimately answers to the Constitution itself, as service members take an oath to uphold it, not just follow the orders of the President; meaning the military is bound to disobey any orders that would violate the Constitution.

Key points:
• Oath of Office:
Military personnel swear an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".

• Commander-in-Chief Power:
The President holds the title of "Commander-in-Chief" which gives them broad authority to direct military operations,
but this power is still limited by the Constitution.
