I asked my sister why doesn’t she challenge her pastor for campaigning for Trump from the pulpit during Mass and she pretty much dismissed it, saying that he is only focussed on abortion and that nothing else about Trump matters to him.
Although she is a Harris supporter, she told me that she just ignores her pastor’s politicking in church because her Catholic faith is more important to her than confronting him.

12. I like one little Catholic church in my area.

I used to take my niece there. She was supposed to be Catholic. But never went through confirmation. It was always her choice. I know the Hail Mary better than she ever did.

I am a Presbyterian Church member. My membership is miles away and I haven't been to a Presbyterian church in decades. Though where I was confirmed is about six miles away, I never transferred my membership back.

In college, I studied the teachings of The Buddha and learned meditation. I still meditate now.

The last organized church that I went to was for fellowship, to try to make new friends and because I liked the minister. It was a small, independent non-denominational church. Until the day they routed the entire congregation through the hallway into the business office.

I was on the way out of the door but they wouldn't let anyone leave the building until they pledged two dollar amounts, their tithe and their offering. I said that I wasn't going to do that and I left and never went back.

They went bankrupt, lost their building and I never saw or heard from the preacher that I liked so much again.

Then, I found out that I have Native American roots in the Potawatomi Tribe. I spent a year with a chief and got my name.

I am so grateful to have found and met my biological father otherwise I wouldn't have known. I only had him in my life a few years. He passed away last year. But I burn sage in his honor, chant, drum, pray and attend Pow Wows at every opportunity.

I am more at peace with the universe than I have ever been and will probably never step foot in an "organized church" again.

We all have to do what's best for us in this regard, claudette. Don't lose your spirit and stay encouraged.

for finding the peace you sought. I went to 12 years of Catholic School, attended Mass every Sunday, was married in a Catholic Church BUT when the priests started preaching about the politics of abortion - they lost me. AND - one of my (former) favorites priest's comment to me about a Catholic marrying a Jew was the last straw.

The current Pope seems less rigid, but in all honesty, I cannot be a "good" Catholic. I study and love the Buddhist philosophy, have been to many retreats and feel that is where I belong.

However, St. Anthony is still my favorites "go to" guy when I am in need!

But at two of the three that I remember, even the sitting POTUS (Carter in 1977 and Clinton in 1995) wore a white tie. Trump was visibly in black tie.

Granted, that’s a first world observation, but WTF all the same? OK, he probably can’t dress himself at this point, but if he’s going to attend a white tie event, surely he is going to look in the mirror at some point and get his black tie replaced?

Trump must have had jokes written for him, however, as usual he couldn’t stick to the script and consequently, was even MORE awkward than usual.

His admitting than he hates Kamala and that Joe wants to come back (!) is as much as saying he knows she’s beating the daylights out of him. That part alone gave me a good deal of satisfaction.

Wasn’t that Schumer sitting to the immediate right of the speaker stand? He kept looking like he wanted to crawl under the table.

That woman to the left of the speaker stand looked like she was cringing in the beginning, but got used to the utter inappropriateness later.

I’d never call him an ass; he’s a very experienced lawyer who has put together quite a network for those of us who like to have these egregious actions by trump called out for what they are. The regular media is so milquetoast.

It is a bit repetitious how he always says play the tape. I come from the world of broadcasting and television production and can tell you that is not the way to do it. The right way is to give a cue. I can see why you would be annoyed.

Ben looks tired in this show. That’s because his wife just had a baby. Ben is the type to carry his share of the work and it looks like the little one has been keeping him up at night.

One very helpful aspect of their shows is that they always back trump’s words with the clips. This makes it a virtual tape library for documenting. Super helpful and also quite an expense to the show.
