Trump did that: Gas up 42 cents from the beginning of the week in my small Midwestern town.

Trump hinted at his overall plan this evening when he said that in 1913
"for some unknown reason" they instituted the income tax. IMO, he's planning to end income tax and replace it with these tariffs, which are essentially a VAT tax.
He has actually said on occasion that he would get rid of income taxes.
