Zuckerberg shows once again what a right prick he is.
Headline: Zuckerberg says Biden administration pressured Meta to censor COVID-19 content
Aug 27 (Reuters) - Meta Platforms (META.O), opens new tab CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the Biden administration had pressured the company to "censor" COVID-19 content during the pandemic, apparently referring to White House requests to take down misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccines.
In a letter dated Aug. 26, Zuckerberg told the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee that he regretted not speaking up about this pressure earlier, as well as other decisions he had made as the owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp around removing certain content.
In July 2021, President Joe Biden, a Democrat, said social media platforms like Facebook "are killing people" for allowing misinformation about coronavirus vaccines to be posted on its platform.
Others like former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy publicly said the company was not doing enough to take down misinformation, and was making it harder to fight the pandemic and save lives.

Bozeman gears up for Trump as vendors pop up and students plan to attend.
Rowan Thompson-Tschimprle, a film student, said hes not a fan of Trump, but that hed attend the rally anyway for the experience. I think its kind of cool that theyre having an actual a politician come here but, personally, Im not the biggest fan of Trump, Thompson-Tschimprle said. Im going anyways I just think its really kind of interesting seeing a political figure.
Isaac McNally, a campus minister who is studying Spanish said, I appreciate a lot of the policies that Trump upholds, but I dont appreciate the way that hes treated like a God... both Republicans and Democrats are so far on either extreme that no ones listening to each other, so Im going to be at the rally, but not to rally for Trump. Im just there to represent Jesus.
Josh Meyer, who directs the McNair Scholars Program at MSU, said he doesnt personally agree with Trump but added that the university plays a role in offering rally opportunities to various candidates and should continue to do so.
I think MSU needs to do the right thing in terms of not being binary, in terms of one way or the other, Meyer said. Its providing equal opportunities for all parties and candidates.

Joe Biden still has some wear left.
He will win.

Left heading for shock victory in French election -- first estimates
PARIS The leftwing alliance in France is on course to win the most seats in a dramatic parliamentary election, dealing a blow to the far-right party of Marine Le Pen, according to early estimates.
Le Pens National Rally came top in the first round a week ago and was aiming to secure the most seats in Frances legislature for the first time in the partys history. But tactical voting and collaboration between Le Pens opponents in an effort to keep her party out of power appeared to have paid off, the first indications from pollsters suggested.
According to early estimates by polling institute IFOP, the leftwing alliance is on course to have between 180 and 215 MPs in the 577-seat parliament. That puts it ahead of Macrons liberals on 150-180 seats, with the National Rally and its allies forecast to have 120-150 MPs in the new legislature.
The seat projections for the final, second round of the election are based on early estimates and a lot could could change as official results are announced from the vote-counting in the hours ahead.

Democrats to nominate Biden virtually to bypass quirk of Ohio law
WASHINGTON, May 28 (Reuters) - The Democratic National Committee will nominate President Joe Biden as the partys presidential standard-bearer through a virtual roll call ahead of its August convention in Chicago, bypassing a detail in Ohio law that had threatened to keep the president off the November ballot in that state.
Ohio law requires all candidates to be legally certified by Aug. 7, but Biden was not scheduled to be officially nominated until after the Democratic National Convention begins on Aug. 19. Tradition dictates that the Democrats' convention follow the Republican one in July, because Democrats hold the White House.
The virtual roll call will be completed before the Ohio deadline, but the Democratic National Committee did not give a specific date.
"Joe Biden will be on the ballot in Ohio and all 50 states, and Ohio Republicans agree, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison said in a statement on Tuesday. But when the time has come for action, they have failed to act every time, so Democrats will land this plane on our own.

Israeli tanks hit evacuation zone west of Rafah
CAIRO, May 28 (Reuters) - Israel's military denied striking a tent camp west of Rafah on Tuesday after Gaza health authorities said Israeli tank shelling had killed at least 21 people there, in an area Israel has designated a civilian evacuation zone.
Earlier, defying an appeal from the International Court of Justice, Israeli tanks advanced to the heart of Rafah for the first time after a night of heavy bombardment, while Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognised a Palestinian state, a move that further deepened Israel's international isolation.
The United States, Israel's closest ally, reiterated its opposition to a major Israeli ground offensive in Rafah but said it did not believe such an operation was under way.
Two days after an Israeli airstrike on another camp stirred global condemnation, Gaza emergency services said four tank shells on Tuesday hit a cluster of tents in Al-Mawasi, a coastal strip Israel designated as an expanded humanitarian zone where it advised civilians in Rafah to go for safety.
