In reply to the discussion: Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-California) gets vaccinated for Covid-19 [View all]NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)I like that her tweet informs about the vaccine. She understands that now is not the time for boasting or bragging, or making it about herself. She knows that it's important for our elected representatives emphasize the value and safety of the vaccine itself. She's reassuring without posturing or putting on airs of bravery and courage (ie: if the undertone of the messaging is that one needs to be "brave" or "courageous," then that suggests and reinforces the false notion that perhaps there's genuinely something to fear... and that's not the case!) Now is not the time for self-serving posts that would end up being counter-productive.
She's taken the exact right approach and tone. It's good when our elected representatives posts tweets that inform; that put people at ease; and that are in the public's interest (rather than in their own self-interest.) She's a class act. I admire her very much.
