(15,064 posts)This may sound a little too spiritual but I feel there is a connection that we can only recognize if we are open to understand it. It's like Joseph Campbell describes in his books as an individual who has an epiphany. I once had an experience that shook me but gave me a peaceful feeling. My best friend died in a cave in. He was smothered by mud in a big gouge in the earth we played in and called "little canyon". I was driving home late one night and was passing the spot of the cave in when I almost fell asleep at the wheel. All of a sudden someone walked out in front of my car and I slammed on my brakes. The person faded away as they walked across the road and seemed to smile at me as they faded. The shape was like a fog. It could have been a hallucination because I was sleepy or it could have been my best friend keeping me from crashing. It gives me a feeling of peace when I think about that even today.
