(30,798 posts)maybe others asked him to leave... but no one held a gun to his head.
He has a heath problem. If it was cancer, everyone here boohoo ing the situation would all of a sudden be like "oh man, please go take care of yourself" and we would all move on to picking a new nominee... of course there would be a lot of people crying, but NO ONE would say "oh the doctors forced him out of the race".
But Joe's issue is a mental issue... and memory and logic issue. Not unusual.
I have the same issue in my life... and I am 13 years younger. But occasionally I will reach for a word or a name... and I can't for the life of me... recall it. If I am talking... I will trail off and mumble something or try to cover my inability to remember. It isn't bad yet. I can still work in the industry I love... and my experience and knowledge gained over 40 years still makes me valuable to my company I work for. But honest, it scares me to my core. So far it is just memory... logic isn't affected. I remember where I left my keys... I remember (most of the time) what meetings I need to be in.
But... Joe is 13 years older. I will be where he is... and I hope I am as good as he appears to be. But no way would I think that I would be qualified to be President.
Joe is stepping down. People who love him convinced him to do this. We all need to move on and defeat Trump and the authoritarians that support him.
