for not only cardio, but they hit almost every muscle.
Yes, you're right - one has to start very slow and for short periods of time ... and very gradually increase resistance and length of workout. I will be re-starting at the minimal resistance and go for one minute when I start again.
Form is of utmost importance in rowing. You can really screw up if you have poor form. There are videos that show how to use a rower properly.
