(17 posts)Why is everyone so upset with the polls? They actually told us Harris was closer to winning the election than she actually was. For whatever reason they skewed Democratic, but the polls that count--as we all said before the election--were much more favorable to the big orange pig. Being mad at the pollsters--and the MSM for that matter--for telling us the truth gets us nowhere. As progressives we like to think we are data-driven, but we are just as susceptible as conservatives to disbelieve data that does not reinforce our view. But the examples of not trusting the data are numerous and lead to disaster. There is a reason nobody referrers to Aristotle anymore: he was wrong--and provably so. To win future elections we need to understand why people both gravitated towards [it] and stayed home. We can't do that by blaming the pollsters; the media; the poor; the rich.... The Biden administration made many mistakes: Afghanistan; inflation; immigration; prosecutions.... But that is now squarely in the past. I--for one--do not think a recalibration is actually necessary. The stupidity, cruelty and misguidedness of the incoming administration will be patently obvious to all of those 'the price of eggs is too high!' voters. If we can maintain somewhat of a functioning democracy until 2026 we will be okay--this will pass.
