It's not about transgender rights [View all]

It wasn't about "welfare queens."
It wasn't about "gays demand special rights."
It wasn't about "welfare on demand."
It wasn't about Willie Horton.
It wasn't about John Kerry's Purple Hearts.
It wasn't about Al Gore "inventing the internet."
It wasn't about woke.
It wasn't about affirmative action or busing.
It wasn't about Jimmy Carter and the rabbit.
And it wasn't about Tim Walz "lying about his military record."

If any of these trigger memories for you and make you mad, it's because that's what they were designed to do. Each of these - and more - were used deceitfully by the Republican Party in order to distract and anger voters into turning away from Democratic candidates.

Each time we allow the GOP to get away with this, we cede our strength and clarity to their strategy of confusion and finger pointing.

We need a new approach in the Democratic Party. No, we don't turn our backs on our commitment to equal rights. We don't get into pointless arguments over which group we'll throw under the bus to appease the monsters.

We need a disciplined, consistent message from ALL Democratic politicians.

When Tim Walz was falsely smeared, we needed every single Democratic figure to repeat the same message of outrage, day and night, over and over.

Repeat over and over.
