This writer perfectly nailed the ethos of the Trump phenomenon - it's both evil and embarrassing, and it's not just cool-wannabe poseurs like Musk and Zuckerberg; it's Trump himself: Overweight, aging, balding, trying desperately to hold onto his self-image as a suave playboy through orange makeup, dyed and elaborately-styled hair, lifts in his shoes and a transgressive attitude; illiterate, childish Xeets and it's all so cringe-inducing. Equally embarrassing is the servile toadying of GOP members of Congress and the oligarchs who want to keep the gravy train coming. And it's all profoundly evil and at the same time profoundly cringe-inducing. A unique horror, indeed. At least Bond villains weren't embarrassing.
