A writer for the Guardian made that comment while discussing the cringeworthy behavior of Musk and Zuckerberg in https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jan/16/i-knew-one-day-id-have-to-watch-powerful-men-burn-the-world-down-i-just-didnt-expect-them-to-be-such-losers When I read about the 15' bronze statue of Trump that was commissioned, to be called "Don Colossus" and to be shown around the country and later installed in his so-far-nonexistent presidential library, I realized that everything about the Trump phenomenon is both evil and embarrassing. It's not just cool-wannabe poseurs like Musk and Zuckerberg; it's all the sycophants and fluffers and fawners and invertebrates like Lindsey Graham and the other politicians and moguls and media suckups who beclown themselves on a daily basis, falling over each other for the great privilege of touching the hem of the Great Man's garment.
What The Actual Fucking Hell? Who does that? What happened to simple self-respect? Why are you people humiliating yourselves over this guy? When you look back on all this some day will your balls shrink to the size of mouse turds as you realize what asses you made of yourselves? Will you even have enough decency and capacity for introspection to be properly and utterly embarrassed for yourselves? Folks, it's way worse than getting drunk at a formal dinner party and making a pass at the host's wife before vomiting red wine on the Persian rug and finally passing out naked on the front lawn. Waaay worse. You should be too embarrassed ever to show your faces in public again. Strangely, you're not. Yet.
And the person over whom you are embarrassing yourselves is himself an embarrassment: Overweight, aging, balding, trying desperately to hold onto his lame self-image as a suave playboy through orange makeup, dyed and ridiculously-styled hair, lifts in his shoes and a transgressive attitude; illiterate, childish Xeets - and it's all so desperately cringe-inducing. And it's all profoundly evil at the same time. A unique horror, indeed. Evil is being done in embarrassing ways by embarrassing people. Obviously we shouldn't lose sight of all that evil; dignified evil is still just as evil. But you'd think such a ridiculous and juvenile and stupid guy wouldn't be taken seriously and emulated, and therefore able to be so evil. He's a fucking clown, people! Why are you making statues and artworks that would make the creators of the Socialist Realism movement blush, glorifying this slack, dumpy loser as a muscular superhero? Stalin would be envious - but he was just evil, not ridiculous on top of it.
At least Bond villains weren't embarrassing, but they wouldn't have been credible as villains if they'd been clowns like Trump. What the actual fuck is wrong with a country that not only fails to recognize and be embarrassed by a pathetic clown but actually embraces him?
Idiocracy is real.
