(148,678 posts)Telling people the sky is falling? Well, we can all see that for ourselves.
My question is: What are YOU doing about it that might have some effect?
If you have any suggestions for what people on DU can do, share those. We already know that there are problems. Do you have any fresh ideas about how to help fix those problems?
DU is a discussion forum. We can discuss ways we might change things and undo some of the damage. We already know there has been and will be damage.
Here's my suggestion: Get busy communicating with state, local and national legislators. And not just the ones you agree with, either. Tell them what you want, and how you suggest they do what you want. Don't yell at them. Write plainly and clearly and include details of things they might actually be able to do to better the situation. Don't just do it once. Do it frequently. Be the polite, thoughtful squeaky wheel on a consistent basis.
DU is great for what it is. However, it doesn't really DO anything. That's up to us as individuals. Don't tell us things are bad. Tell us what you're doing to make them better.
