Sculpture I made for a hockey video game [View all]

The puck and the hockey stick are real. What I made was the ice. I used a 3x3 foot plexiglass sheet that was a few inches thick. I drilled the groove out where it looks like the puck is slicing through the ice. For the splashing effect of the melted ice I cut plastic paper protector sheets that you use in binders into the shape of spraying liquid and used a glue gun and sugar to make it look like icy sludge.

The plexiglass sheet was crystal clear so I sanded and roughed it up as much as a could so it looked like people had skated on it. I created the opaque look of skating rink ice by just laying it on a blue blanket.

The first photo is the sculpture as it looked and the second one is the advertisement. They didn’t do a great job on the ad, but I did a pretty good job on the prop.
