….either winter with me in Arizona or they migrate through Arizona to their winter destination. Either way, I’ll keep my feeders full to feed your hummingbirds visiting with me

OMG wryter2000 Sep 14 #1
About 30 between all the feeders. They'll be gone soon. Solly Mack Sep 14 #4
WOW, Solly, you've outdone yourself with these gorgeous pix! SheltieLover Sep 14 #2
Thanks, SheltieLover Solly Mack Sep 14 #5
Hummingbirds migrate? ancianita Sep 14 #72
Yes. To Mexico, as well as to Central and South America. Some people are lucky enough to have them year-round. Solly Mack Sep 14 #78
I just posted a website SheltieLover Sep 14 #80
Thanks! Solly Mack Sep 14 #82
Yw! SheltieLover Sep 14 #84

"Only?" SheltieLover Sep 14 #83
Areas around here have several dozens, so 12 is a small number. I have males hanging out on my gutters, the outside Solly Mack Sep 14 #86
Holy cow! You're really lucky! SheltieLover Sep 14 #90
I know! They are amazing birds. Albeit vicious. Solly Mack Sep 14 #96
Yes the males get quite aggressive over the feeders SheltieLover Sep 14 #99
So do the females. One female was pecking the heads of other females at the feeders. Just jabbing her beak right into Solly Mack Sep 14 #106
Omg! Really? SheltieLover Sep 14 #111

Louisiana. Friends in New Orleans tell me they've seen them over the winter. Not here though. Not yet. Solly Mack Sep 14 #14
I lived in Baton Rouge for a year and a half. MLF1981 Sep 14 #15
I'm in SW CENLA and we get too much winter for them even though we don't get much of a winter at all. Solly Mack Sep 14 #17
So I'm guessing... MLF1981 Sep 14 #20
Somewhere between the two, yes. I prefer Creole dishes though I won't say no to a crawfish boil. Not a fan of boudin. Solly Mack Sep 14 #21
Man, oh man, you and I are very different. MLF1981 Sep 14 #38
I'm not a native, so that could explain it. My husband loves king cake. Me, not so much. lol Solly Mack Sep 14 #59
Those look like Anna's RainCaster Sep 14 #10
Those are ruby-throated hummingbirds. They migrate south for the winter. They are usually gone by mid-September. Solly Mack Sep 14 #13
Yes, that's the way my juvenile males were looking before they left. On one of yours, you can see starting to get Walleye Sep 14 #22

I was too close and one pooped on me. Didn't mean to, I'm sure. Just being a bird in flight. Solly Mack Sep 14 #54
I would take a poop to have one get that close. Demobrat Sep 14 #75
LOL! They use their poop and pee as a weapon against other hummingbirds. To drive them away. Solly Mack Sep 14 #81
