The Brunt Ice Shelf is tearing itself apart and could create an iceberg the size of Delaware. Most of the scientists I follow expect that to happen soon.
The Brunt Ice Shelf borders the Antarctic coast of Coats Land between Dawson-Lambton Glacier and Stancomb-Wills Glacier Tongue according to Wiki.
Scientists have described the shelf as a combination of 4 glacial tongues cemented together by an icy mix known as melange, see the above image for an example.
The British Antarctica Survey have been researching this area since the 1950s. They have had to move their camp two times monitoring the crack. This will be the largest berg since data has been recorded at Brunt. British Antarctica Survey relocating base camp due to cracks that were too close for comfort.
