but he didn't coin the phrase. Manufactures make things so that it is more affordable to replace them than to fix them. Also, anything plastic is sure to break quicker than metal. I recall watching a show about Edison and it said that they light bulb manufacturers could easily make a light bulb or a battery that would last 15 years but then they wouldn't make any money in the future.
