4. "is vaccinating for childhood mumps better than having childhood mumps?"

The odds of a child who has contracted mumps dying from complications is higher than the day-to-day odds of a child dying in a car accident, being abducted by a pedophile, or accidentally shooting himself or herself with an unsecured gun.

As a parent, I make sure my kid rides in a car seat, knows to not walk off with strangers, and see to it that my guns have trigger locks and my daughter knows not to touch them. In what fucked up world would I NOT also make sure my kid has her goddamn vaccinations?

We still have alot to learn about the long term benefit (or not) of vaccinating for everything.

Yeah, we've only been vaccinating kids for several GENERATIONS, and driven numerous diseases to near extinction that once killed millions. But who knows, maybe the side effects take a few centuries to manifest themselves, and kids in the 23rd century are truly fucked
