pretty much stayed the same over 60 years! I have been able to force myself to be more comfortable in social situations; when I was a child and young adult, social encounters made me self-conscious immediately, and I had lots of trouble just engaging in conversation. It didn't help that I have always been interested in things that most people couldn't care less about -- reading, nature, philosophy, etc. Once I learned that, though, I was able to understand how to engage others by talking about things that THEY were interested in, not just what I was interested in. I often wished I had been able to do that much earlier in my life. It would have made things much easier for me.
