...but I have the series on DVD. I can't honestly say if the show influenced or validated my thinking. It probably did both. Anyone who hasn't seen it should watch at least the first couple of seasons.

In addition to the philosophy, the cinematography of the show was beautiful, and my understanding groundbreaking in some cases. At times, it is visually stunning.

Sure, there's the expected ass-kicking, but there is a lot more to it than that. The show addresses prejudice, fanaticism, greed, and nearly the whole gambit of shortcomings and virtues present in America at both the time it is set, the time it was broadcast, and even today.
