Populist Reform of the Democratic Party
In reply to the discussion: I just got banned from the Hillary Clinton room. [View all]Jim Lane
(11,175 posts)51. That happened to me with the BOG.
One of the BOGgies posted there that critics of Obama were applying a double standard. I consider that a very serious charge, so when I saw that post (because it got recc'd up to the Greatest page) I responded to defend myself and others who don't think Obama is perfect.
I was blocked from the BOG, with the explanation, "We like our peace." Well, my view is, if you like your peace, don't start wars.
As the Hillary Clinton Group became more prominent, I wondered how they would handle such a situation. I asked one of the hosts, who replied in part:
This is how I see it, we have a Statement of Purpose that we adhere to and it's pretty specific. Hillary supporters are trashed on a daily basis in GD and there is nothing I can do about that. I can protect them in the HCG though (which I will vigorously do, that's why I am a host there). I will let people blow off steam for the crap they take in GD (because I take it myself).
So, people in HCG can say something like "Clinton's opponent are all misogynists, there's no other reason anyone would oppose Her Magnificence," and if you respond by mentioning gender-neutral reasons for opposing her, you'll get blocked. I think that's an abuse of the "safe haven" concept.
As long as they take that position, though, any disagreement with a smear about Clinton opponents will have to be addressed in an OP elsewhere. I would link to the offending HCG post and explain that I can't respond there without violating the rules of their little playpen.

Nope, it happens when you ask a poster a question. It has nothing to do with "support"...

Yeah, I've seen too many "You won't believe what they're saying in Group X!" posts

I tend to agree. The AA group, BOG group, PUMA group, etc. are unhealthy in general

I have it hidden. I find the BOG creepy beyond belief, and the political views there
