Gen Z is bringing it with record-breaking turnout: The Kids Are All Right!

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — With Election Day just a few days away, a Gen Z-led organization is projecting that young voters are on track to break youth voter turnout records.

Voters of Tomorrow said a report has found early vote turnout is surpassing initial projections.

"Pulling from official early vote totals from Secretary of State data as of 6:00 pm Thursday, Voters of Tomorrow is tracking increased youth early vote turnout in multiple battleground states and nationwide," the organization said in a press release Friday.

Voters of Tomorrow said young voters across the nation have surpassed the early vote turnout projection by 20%. The organization said the benchmarks are based on 2022 voting preference rates.

*****

Michigan, for example, is showing a youth early vote increase over projections of +221%!!

I would wager that Republicans in the know are beginning to shit multiple bricks over the blue tsunami that is about to wipe them out.

Stunningly Good DNC Fundraising and Volunteer Numbers Reported!

Wow, the Harris-Walz momentum continues. According to a memo from Harris-Walz campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon released today, the campaign raised $82 million during the DNC convention this week, with the best hour coming after Harris delivered her acceptance speech. A third of those donations came from first-time contributors. Two-thirds of the first-time donors were women and one-fifth were young voters. In total the campaign has raised $540 million since it launched last month, which is “a record for any campaign in history,” according to the memo.

What’s more, volunteers signed up for nearly 200,000 shifts during convention week, which marked the biggest week of organizing since the start of the campaign, according to the memo.

Let's suggest theme songs for the Harris campaign

Here is mine: Feeling Good

?si=GvXQVdNZDHFdxF-r

Birds flying high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by, you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me, yeah
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me, ooh
And I'm feeling good
Fish in the sea, you know how I feel
River running free, you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me
And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know?
Butterflies all havin' fun, you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done, that's what I mean
And this old world, is a new world
And a bold world for me, yeah-yeah
Stars when you shine, you know how I feel
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel
Oh, freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me
I'm feeling good

Ruminating/self loathing

Like many people, I’m prone to lying awake thinking about every stupid thing I’ve ever done and said. Recently I kicked that into high gear because I made a BIG mistake and got a scammed and exposed some sensitive personal information. Believe me, I should have known better, but a series of events led me into a state of mind when I was vulnerable and gullible. Anyway, I am having trouble sleeping because I have a constant thought loop running of “I am a fucking idiot who blew it and I hate myself.”

Has anyone else gone through something similar? Thanks.

Speaking of Rudy Giuliani, here's a reminder of the breadth of his evil

He was one of the three main attorneys that won the horrible 2002 deal that allowed Purdue to keep murdering people by continuing to make and push OxyContin.

...

[snip]

Purdue Pharma hired Rudolph Giuliani, the former New York mayor and now Donald Trump’s lawyer [note: he was his lawyer at the time this article was written], to head off a federal investigation in the mid-2000s into the company’s marketing of the powerful prescription painkiller at the centre of an epidemic estimated to have claimed at least 300,000 lives. According to the CDC, the death toll from OxyContin and related prescription opioids now exceeds 200,000.

The Sackler family made billions from OxyContin. While Giuliani was not able to prevent the criminal conviction over Purdue’s fraudulent claims for OxyContin’s safety and effectiveness, he was able to reach a deal to avoid a bar on Purdue doing business with the federal government which would have killed a large part of the multibillion-dollar market for the drug.

The former New York mayor also secured an agreement that greatly restricted further prosecution of the pharmaceutical company and kept its senior executives out of prison.

My great hope: That the Trump indictments/Jan. 6 arrests/imprisonments/fake elector charges, etc.

give pause to at least some U.S. fascists/Nazis/Republicans and make them think twice about attempting another coup d'etat/election theft/democracy overthrow in the future.

TBH, I do wish that Garland had acted with much more urgency and swiftness. The very foundation of our country was at stake. ... But, better late than never, I guess. *sigh*

"I'm a devout Christian, but I believe in science."

No you don't.

You can't simultaneously believe in the laws of science and magic. For example, if you truly accept science, you can't believe that a deity impregnated a mortal. You can't believe that the product of this bizarre event, a carpenter from the Judea of a couple thousand years ago, was put to death but then came back to life and will return to Earth eventually to save his followers. You can't believe that a powerful invisible wizard (his "father" ) is directing things on Earth and ostensibly elsewhere/everywhere in the universe. You can't believe that there's a supernatural realm that occasionally overpowers the natural realm. You can't believe any of that magical stuff if you truly believe in science. Like the commercial says, "That's not how any of this works." The two concepts, Christianity* and science, are mutually contradictory.

Somehow, it reminds me of the "Sheldon" scene from When Harry Met Sally:

*Some "Christians" say that they just like and follow the messages attributed to Jesus in the Bible. Well, that's fine, but I was always told that being a true Christian requires faith in the magical poppycock. So, this doesn't apply to those who don't believe the supernatural stories, yet still call themselves "Christians."

*** Official THANKS FOR THE HEART/S thread for all to use ***

Individual "thanks" threads sometimes get lost, so I thought it would be nice to have the thanks in one place for donors to see.

Personally, I'd like to thank my kind benefactors from the bottom of my you-know-what! I appreciate you very much!
