(9,197 posts)Thanks for all the years of posts and the great toons.

(10,499 posts)...I don't support her, either. I wish no Dems would vote for her... but, if I had to vote for Manchin or the Republican, I'd vote for Manchin.
Wish you well, too.

(38,958 posts)And even after taking a nine month break am very close to the line of thinking you present in this post. Good luck and I suspect I will likely see your posts elsewhere.

I cant stand Manchin either.
But, its a numbers game and the Dems need his number.

(108,317 posts)(as is mine) at what is happening. I know some juries are taking this "don't criticize Democrats" as a literal edict. Perhaps, you could request admins clarify what they mean by that because posts I have seen from Skinner in admin's forum seem to suggest that degree of absolutism was not his intent.
I hope you reconsider.

(51,720 posts)Manchin is a fucking Republican masquerading as a Democrat and I'll never defend him. The whole notion of unquestionable support is foolish. Consider that we're in weird, weird times and Haspel is a symptom of it. There are dangerous people and crackpot people in every other department in Trump's government, so the CIA will be no different. You have to consider that she's been there through an entire Democratic administration and no one said a peep. Even though she was one of the rank and file, it seems a bit odd to suddenly learn she's a monster. The monster has always been there. You'll be needed for the clean-up job, so please don't go.

(30,481 posts)I can and do criticize Democrats here on an almost daily basis.
You just did and it isnt being hidden.
Of course if that is the only thing you can think about or post about, then this isnt the place for you. Thats hard to imagine considering all of the great things happening in the party.
So you are leaving because you cant criticize Manchin, yet you just did so and it is standing.
There must be more to it than this. No democrat is off limits for my criticism here. Not a one. It simply has to be grounded in fact with a concern for policy.
Im guessing post #8 wont be hidden either. Furthering my point that your reasoning is faulty.
I have even criticized HRC here in the last two weeks. No one took issue with it because it was well grounded and worded in a manner that wasnt bullshit or designed to start crap. Simply fact based criticism.

(60,153 posts)I think you might be misinterpreting the TOS. They are not to support every action of any Democrat. Here, unless you support Manchin's Republican opponent, you are not breaking the rules.

(45,728 posts)Constructive criticism of Democrats is welcomed here at DU.
Name-calling and inflammatory hatchet jobs arent.
Rules are pretty clear.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=termsofservice
Don't bash Democratic public figures
Do not post disrespectful nicknames, insults, or highly inflammatory attacks against any Democratic public figures. Do not post anything that could be construed as bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for any Democratic general election candidate, and do not compare any Democratic general election candidate unfavorably to their general election opponent(s).
Why we have this rule: Our forum members support and admire a wide variety of Democratic politicians and public figures. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but our members don't expect to see Democrats viciously denigrated on this website. This rule also applies to Independents who align themselves with Democrats (eg: Bernie Sanders).

I am pretty sure anything you would post about Manchins support of Gina Haspel would be substantive criticism.
At any rate sorry you have decided to leave, but understand. Take good care of yourself!
