(7,715 posts)I voted to send, but if there is a specific legal/Constitutional basis to hold off, I'd be all in favor.
The "spin" would need to be carefully managed, as the Rs would jump up and down saying the Ds are scared.

More time to paint the R's as complicit and performing cover-up.

(24,078 posts)I worship the quicksand that Trump and Moscow Mitch walk on, but let's not make shit up.
That's their gig.
As for sending the articles to the Senate, I'm torn. Lard Butt clearly deserves to be impeached, but it's equally clear that the Senate won't convict.
So I wonder how he could spin a resolution of censure, and how Repukes could spin their refusal to acknowledge ANY wrongdoing on the part of the orange shitweasel.
In any case, I will defer to and support the decision of Speaker Pelosi, one of the most gifted politicians of my lifetime.

(17,637 posts)It would be tempting to hold the Articles back and prolong Trump's agony, but I'm worried there are consequences I'm not seeing right now. We can still keep investigating him, and indict him when he's out of office. Other than as a psychological tactic (that could backfire) I don't see the benefit. Yet that temptation is what keeps me from voting "send them to the Senate." So, I'M NOT SURE.

(52,462 posts)he will go crazier, faster. It'll also smack Mitch's smirk off his face.

(34,569 posts)their duties. I don't expect rethugs to show any integrity. I don't think the optics of delaying the trial will work for us. All it'll do is prolong a false hope of trump getting removed, or on the other hand, increase the cynicism of people who feel like democrats are weak/ all talk, and nothing will ever be done to stop trump. So I say, rip the bandaid off now, without any further delays. trump will be officially impeached, and voters will send the final eviction notice next fall.

(3,904 posts)should hold on to the articles for a while (as in early to mid January, for example) and continue to investigate. The out spoken republicans are lining up against impeachment. Their leader in the senate, has already said he plans to vote to acquit the the practicing criminal. That would be a disaster.
BigmanPigman
(52,462 posts)a little faster. It'll also ruin Mitch's holdays.

(3,904 posts)can you imagine him loosing it and wandering out of the white house onto the front lawn in his pajamas, raving making secret service scramble to locate him, then chase him down and wrestle him back inside.

(28,896 posts)There still is much to shake out and, in the meantime, it will make Trump get even crazier. Maybe an Amendment 25 intervention will be played out.
