Democrats have to stop accepting the GOP's premises such as "popular vote doesn't matter". The popular vote doesn't matter because of anachronistic rules developed under slavery, and because Republicans say it doesn't matter. The Democrats must point out that the electoral college is a legacy of slavery every time it comes up, I mean, every single time. If, 3 months from now, someone is talking about the election, the liberal on the panel has to say "that is a legacy of slavery". If a Republican starts to defend the electoral college, ask them why they are defending slavery.
We need to make the narrative Electoral College = Slavery.

(5,126 posts)AND how tRump is going about helping the 1% to all of America's rights, is by removing every check and balance on THEIR Group and applying FAKE restrictions on everyone else.
THEY have MONEY, LIES and Fake Moral Ground.
BUT the REICH Wing is only one wing of the American experience, WE THE PEOPLE are the REST of the Bird.
AND supposedly some of those policies were to protect average Americans who couldn't read from being fooled into casting their vote in error.
I guess a lot of Americans want to see America DUMB again and let the RICH do their thinking FOR them.
NOT DEMS. NOT EVER DEMS. But the Sheeple want a leader they can look up to while he shits all over them. Sick. Sick.

(23,030 posts)vote; enough meaning that their total electoral count is > or + 270 then the electoral college is moot.
I don't know how many states now have that in their laws. I know CA does.
We should target all states with Democratic governors to join in.

(283 posts)Think of this as a business problem. We need to set the marketing message before we can start closing sales. Let's set the narrative first: Electoral College = Slavery. The best part of that accusation is that it is 100% true. Once we establish that premise, we can try carving off individual states to go after the electoral college.

(23,030 posts)The states wanted representation of their slaves even though the slaves had no vote so they were regarded as 3/5 of a person.

Maybe here has a better way to frame it. Like in a small paragraph

(9,790 posts)the EC doesn't seem to matter a whole lot to them either. I agree about the need to get ahead of the curve on messaging, although the right's casual approach to reality, with real-time perceptive mutations to match, makes this a daunting task.

(58,288 posts)how about proposing that EC votes be apportioned like Nebraska and Maine do where each Congressional district allocates its vote to the presidential candidate who wins itno winner takes all as it is now?
That's infinitely fairerone district, one EC vote. Why that's almost like "one person, one vote", the principal democracy is based on.

(3,652 posts)When will the Democratic Party stop being labelled socialist for proposing policies that 70% of Americans support?
When will we manage to paint the Rethugs as the party of multi millionaires?
When will we start pinning criminal convictions on high ranking Rethug members?
Just scratching the surface here. There are so many ways our message gets distorted and shoved down gullible Faux viewers throats.
