(23,223 posts)and doors.
I'm sealed in, but this weather (and worse) is supposed to last for a week or more.
So I'm stocked up and hunkered down.
Hope the power stays on and the furnace (it's working awfully hard) doesn't give out.

(28,893 posts)Bad weather (big snow, ice, and even really cold weather seems to be when my power went out in the past. I live pretty remotely and my road in is 500 feet or so. When I lost power, seemed like it would be days before power would be restored.
So I put up panels and battery back up that will help me maintain power available for the furnace, water pump, fridge, some lights, and WiFi/TV.

(121,841 posts)I was just out for a walk, dressed for Antarctica, and my eyelashes froze together and my mask iced up. Not as bad as a few winters in the '70s, though, when the actual temperature regularly dropped below -20 in January and February.

Wish we would have had a freeze. I guess those are a thing of the past. Back in the 80s and 90s we had one almost every year.

Next 2 weeks supposed to be going up to low 40s!
We've had a cold snowy February so far
Trailrider1951
(3,474 posts)4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground. That is unusual for this area. 10 inches in February, 2019, 6 inches on Christmas, 2017. Other than that, it is usually too warm for snow here, with most precipitation falling as rain. My daughter and her family are out sledding today, enjoying it while they can. I predict hot tea and rosy cheeks all around later.

(63,221 posts)Not too bad. It's been worse. Grateful that I have lots of cozy, warm blankets. I knew that obsession would come in handy one day. My heat barely works, so it's nice to have the backup.

In FL, we're about to have dinner on the patio at 70 or so as the sun disappears behind the trees. People sheltering from blizzards may be happy to know that mosquitoes may drive us into the sunroom. It's spring here. Our killer season, summer, will be along later.
