We just received our first shot this afternoon of pfizer. Second is scheduled. For those having trouble making appointments: we called into albertsons and they sent us a special link to schedule -while on their websites, no appointments were available.

(1,528 posts)My county must have received an abundance because my doctors office called today and asked if I needed a vaccine. I hadnt spoken to them or asked to be put on their waitlist.

Absolutely nothing was available last Thursday when I spent hours searching for one, but thankfully openings started to show up by the next day.

(6,913 posts)This has been very frustrating. I am not good with computers and every appointment would be gone by the time I got there, or I would spazz and boink the wrong thing on the application screen and lose my work.

(2,186 posts)I had myself signed in on the computer and my husband on the tablet, trying to get two appointments together. I finally managed it, but it was stressful

(3,727 posts)With just one shot we can still get it, but if we do our chances of ending up in the hospital go from 5-10% to nearly zero. There has been a marked drop in hospitalizations in Louisiana since they opened it up to people with comorbidities age 16 up, leaving it at 65 up for healthy people, in order to target the people most likely to be hospitalized or die if they catch it.

(3,727 posts)Still too young, but I have coronary artery disease. Got on the waiting list at a little local pharmacy near my workplace. Got the call on the 4th, offering an appointment on the 5th. Moderna #1 accomplished. #2 is scheduled for April 2.

Typical sore arm - NOTHING else either time - but I DID sleep longer after the 2nd one (9 hours - usually a 5-6 hour person).

Took weeks of hunting but worth it. I am a bit under 65 but have underlying conditions.
Second scheduled for first week of April.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's probably at least partly my own fault for not trying hard enough, but WHY does it have to be THIS hard?
I'd love to know the locations of those nine. It would be interesting to know if we're concentrated in a particular state or states.

(11,061 posts)out of town. But if you call, they would send a secret link to schedule an appointment. Not sure if that is an issue you are dealing with, but we were able to overcome it rather easily.

(10,972 posts)I totally understand how you feel! It seemed hopeless for me too! Then my husband tried this link (that had worked for a friend of ours) right after midnight about a week and half ago, and found a CVS near us that was taking appointments for the following week, and we were each able to schedule an appointment (for both shots). Last night out of curiosity he tried the link again right after midnight, and turned up several more CVS's in our area (we live in a MD suburb of DC) that had appointments available, which must have just been added. They were all gone this morning. So if CVS is feasible for you, maybe try right at midnight.
ETA the link! https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine

(19,054 posts)So far it's been nothing, nothing, nothing. The pharmacies seem to get the vaccines in spurts, with a limited amount each time. They post that they have appointments available, and said appointments get snapped up in the blink of an eye, or so it seems.
Right now, CVS has a list of places that supposedly have appointments, but none are within 100 miles of me.
Al, I can do is keep clicking, at CVS and all the other pharmacy sites, and hope I get lucky one of these days.

(300 posts)I got my first shot of Phizer this afternoon at the Portland, Oregon Convention Center. It was incredibly organized. Easy, free parking. The man that checked my husband and me in was a budget officer with the USDA. The young man who processed our papers was with the National Guard. The man who gave us our shots was a retired general practitioner from the Portland area, and the man who set up our second shots was out here from Maryland. There were also numerous people who told us where to go, etc. We couldn't have been more pleased.

I'm clearly not in the top third of those in my state. Maybe the top 50%? Maybe everyone over the age of 25 will get it before me. Yeah, I'm a bit irritable here.
