I would say yes except for the fact that would mean losing the majority in the Senate. So I'll say no.

vote to put a RBG type on SCOTUS.

I also do not think Breyer is anywhere near a lock to retire before the midterms.

The true nightmare is if he does retire like 2 to 4 months before the midterms and Joe Coal says that we must wait until after the midterms.

that if Breyer retires, Manchin (or Sinema) will invoke the "McConnell Rule". That is about my level of cynicism about him right now.

Dems getting a true majority would likely be punishment enough for them. Let's focus on that goal.

Biden is kicking ass right now with Federal Judge appointments. Primary Sinema and keep Manchin. I wanted BBB to pass very badly, but I suspected Manchin would do this regardless of infrastructure bill passage. We are lucky to have a senator that caucuses with the Democrats from the state of WV. We must add a couple more Dem. Senators in 2022 to make Manchin irrelevant.

One thing both need to keep in mind. Don't enjoy being on top too much, because you never know when you'll find yourself at the bottom. A good reason never to shit on others or burn bridges unnecessarily. One day you may need their help. You'd think Manchin is old enough to know that, but some people never learn.

All it takes is ONE republican replacing Manchin's vote and the bill passes. Sh*t direct any money that would have went towards infrastructure in West Virginia to Alaska.

We censured someone, so he responded by quitting midterm. (At first, he said he wasn't gonna run for re-election, then he just up and quit) So, the governor held a special election and now there is a Republican in that seat.

Do we expect that (D) next to Manchin and Sinema's name to actually mean something, or, at the end of the day, is all this simply another team sport, where, as a fan, you root for a uniform no matter who is wearing it?

If the answer is the former, then Manchin and Sinema should be strongly encouraged to migrate to the political party (R) where their hearts obviously lie.

If the latter, then, what the hey! Let's just join hands with the "There's no difference between the two parties" crowd, shut our brains off, bend over and grab some ankle, and enjoy the ride.
