I don't know, but a person with an unrelated condition shouldn't have to die because of anti-vaxxers.

(14,539 posts)I know if Trump gets back in power in 2024, we are in for a disaster. But what type of blow-back do you think there would be if we implemented rules that blocked some people from being admitted to hospitals?

Seeing moral purity tests that ignore planned for-profit scarcity on DU is just cringe

(6,477 posts)Part of the problem of hospital capacity is the destruction of the community-serving hospital in favor of profit. In some ways, we're attacking the very victims of those structural changes. Help everybody.

(47,920 posts)just like collision, no collision. You aren't covered, no delivery of services. Vaccines here should be mandatory.
Look at it this way. So many people for so long, without health insurance. Were they covered? No. They were last in line, seeking discounts, cancellations, being routed to other hospitals. No Medicaid? Too bad. Next!

(12,765 posts)Unvaccinated children should still be admitted with appropriate precautions taken as they're at the mercy of their parents and may not be unvaccinated by choice. The adults could be treated in field tents so they don't overwhelm the hospitals or they can stay home and eat horse paste.

(22,701 posts)they should be the first ones triaged out to make way if there is a vaxxed person who is sick and no bed for them (medical ethics demand in triage situations that you maximize survival.) same for any other condition.
any person admitted for covid, vaxxed or not, should have to sign a waiver that clearly states the hospital's treatment regimen for covid and that hydroxy/invermectin are not approved treatments and will not be administered. anyone who refuses to agree to those terms because they want a quack cure should be sent home to die.

(3,416 posts)to pick up a 25 gallon drum of Roger Stones Magical Miracle Horse Paste (high pressure enema pumping hose sold separately) and while driving to the grocery store, insert pressure hose into Anus and fill lower bowel with 1gallon of Roger Stones Magical Miracle Horse Paste. At the grocery store, they should pick up 66lbs of TRUMPS Flash Frozen TOTS and PEARS. Before retiring to bed, they should shove a large hydroxychloroquine suppository deep into their rectum while slowly sipping a piping hot cup of off brand bleach. If still alive in the morning, they should attend church services and repeat until their story appears on sorryantivaxxer.com. Under no circumstances, should they now trust science and medicine, and endeavor to enter a hospital emergency room for treatment. If all else fails and should they continue to barely breathe, they should use their last breaths to call Mar a Lago Club, Palm Beach, for further instructions.

(7,496 posts)There is a very vocal minority here that has developed an alternate reality where they believe all the unvaccinated are Trump supporting rednecks.
The reality is that in places like here in FL, the least vaccinated population is Black people, with around 55% vaccinated. Are they really suggesting that, say here in Jacksonville where there is a large Black population, that the hospitals refuse the unvaccinated ones service by the hundreds or thousands? And also remember that Black people are disproportionately afflicted with COVID risk factors such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, etc.

I think we can go on all night.

dated before you got sick, you should be turned away unless there is a surplus of beds; which does not exist right now.
Edit:
Turned away for Covid reasons. Not turned away for anything else. Covid takes beds from people who need them for other reasons.

(1,682 posts)If other indoor facilities can require proof of vaccination to enter, hospitals should be able to require it too. Unvaccinated people pose a risk to everyone in the building.

(94,054 posts)However, Upon admission they must sign agreement to follow medical protocols and treatment plans. If they start insisting on stupid shit remedies, send their asses home so they can treat themselves and die there.

(14,176 posts)Exercise strict triage. If it came down to giving a bed to a stroke patient or to someone whos been willfully ignorant (or just plain ignorant), I know my choice.
They have to live (or not, as the case may be) with the consequences of their actions. Sounds harsh, but Ive been done with these assclowns for a long while now. No sympathy here anymore.

(65,539 posts)I sure wish the vaccinated would get first preference. Ethically, though, the sickest should be treated first.

(10,411 posts)If they've done something wildly idiotic to land them there? Apparently not.
Well, that will clear up a lot of beds, even before Covid.
I can't decide if I'm enjoying watching everyone's moral compass careen out of control because of politics.
It's interesting, though.

(1,011 posts)And an immigrant who appreciates what they get here and our rules should take the place of that trash.
Denying unvaxxed trash medical access that they've already essentially waived is ridiculous.
