I have deactivated my account, but plan to reactivate it if a deal falls through, and no sale happens.
(edit: Musk has acquired twitter)

(148,090 posts)No. I tailor my Twitter experience to suit myself. Unless that changes, I can't see any reason to leave Twitter.
I'm not fond of pulling the blanket over my head.

(54,770 posts)Look em up, if you dont believe me.
Will be interesting to see what Musk does.
As long as we and thousands of other can rebut comments we dont like, not worried. And that wont change because no one will go there just to read what trump JR has to say.

(16,755 posts)I said the guy who wouldn't get vaccinated but was demanding an organ transplant would deserve to die then by his own choices.
That of course is much worse than spewing right wing propaganda and lies.

(13,676 posts)He won't pay for the moderation needed to not turn it into Parler or whatever the Right Wing is flailing about on now.
He's a childish troll who wants it to turn Twitter into his personal Troll enclave. Probably because it's popular world-wide as a social collaboration tool, unlike him -who is just a known tool world-wide.

(18,882 posts)Put twitter in the same category as Parler, the Daily Caller, OAN,, Truth Social and Stormfront.

(5,735 posts)Twitter is not going away. I don't necessarily mind Musk's libertarian ways-- but the since he is for free-speech I hope that users act as mis/disinformation reporters and collectively correct the dangerous nonsense that is spouted.

(34,825 posts)TFG finally found someone to spend their money to buy something he wants. He loves to spend other peoples money.
The question is academic for me as I have never had anything worth retweeting.
Anyway, too many open questions right now to have other than an emotional response.
Like, is this the board of Twitter finally realizing that their platform is cornered in an advertising dead end and losing market share?
Possibly they know theres a slew of bipartisan regulations headed their way?
Maybe they are telling Musk to put up or shut up. The markets frown on insincere offers. Which Musk has a history of putting out.
My only advice to the twitter board
Gold up front. No cyber, nfts, or bridge trades.

(1,439 posts)I hate that we have become a society that reads and follows only things we agree with.
Whether it's Trump on twitter, or SNL making fun of President Biden I refuse to live a life in an echo chamber.
We are become way to polarized, and it's stuff like this that makes us even more polarized.
Widen your horizon, you might learn something new.

(13,296 posts)Much more pleasant listening to the birds Twittering in my garden while I sketch. DU is already chock full of it but at least those are cherry picked humorous opinions that dont go on ad nauseum.
I thought I would be terribly addicted to this newfangled iPhone when I first got it. I spent hours on every site that interested me, and was so proud of the commentary that I would contribute.
But as years go by, I find these opinion sites much less interesting and other than DU, skip them all together. Basically I just use my phone now to receive and send texts, check the weather, and set my alarm clock. Im actually pleasantly surprised that what I thought would be a troubling addiction has not turned into such. Oh
and Amazon. Now that HAS turned into a troubling addiction.
