The children of Robb Elementary School were brown and therefore not that important.
The police seem confused and have conflicting stories about the events. Snips show the police tackling parents and doing nothing for the children. Were they so terrified for their own safety that they let the children be slaughtered. If they were too terrified of a shooter with an AK15 that they stood outside the fence in safety as they listened to the shots as each child died...then the gun should be banned.
Fuck the NRA and the GOP.

The father of one of the murdered children was an on duty sheriffs deputy!!! He too was brown!
Many of the border patrol agents who responded (both on and off duty) were brown!!
The men and women who responded had children of their own in that school. Do you not think if there was any way to get to those kids and not get any more killed they would have??!! Ultimately it took finding a school administrator who could find a classroom key to breach the classroom. What else would you have had these browns officers do? Fire indiscriminately through the walls and door??!!!

(7,715 posts)I say that only to say it is a right-wing city and county.
That, to me, is the bigger issue. Here, you had a heavily armed SWAT team that seemed afraid to protect its most vulnerable, who are, without any doubt, COCs (CHILDREN of color, not just PEOPLE OF COLOR). My heart breaks for these little ones and their families. Dear ones: RIP.
Lay off going after the OP, who is one of the most distinguished DUers. Instead, go after the RIGHTWING, REGARDLESS OF THEIR COLOR. They, without any doubt, allowed/caused this to happen.

MerryHolidays
(7,715 posts)From start to finish, this was a RIGHTWING issue. The rightwing allowing guns to be everywhere with no restrictions and police (who are universally right-wing) not doing anything. I have specifically suggested moving off from color.

(11,973 posts)The problem isn't that the children were brown; there has been inaction when white kids were shot were shot in the past. The problem is they were public school kids.
GOP politicians are unmoved when there is a mass murder at a school because they think things like this won't happen at the fancy private schools their children and grandchildren attend. They are unmoved when there is a mass murder at a Walmart or grocery store because they have staff who do the shopping. If poor and middle class children and adults are murdered, it is really not their problem.
Let there be a shooting at an exclusive private school, or a fancy jewelry store, or a private golf club and suddenly guns will become a national emergency.
MerryHolidays
(7,715 posts)The NRA has co-opted so many of the rightwing politicians, that even if a tragedy were to befall the family of a right-winger, the rest of the right-wing would be so beholden to special interests that they would find a way to excuse it.

(47,090 posts)like claiming it was transgender leftist illegal immigrants crossing the border to shoot up an American school. Even Paul Gosar tweeted out that nonsense. Qanon has an even dumber conspiracy involving deep state paying off the kid to do it so Biden can ban guns.
As for the police, yes DUers have pointed out that they are brown and from the community. This is not like some far flung suburban white cops like the George Floyd case.
Their official story is that they didn't know it was a mass shooting and thought it was a hostage situation. Which seems unlikely since those big guns are loud and this is America the land of mass shootings. The other story they have said is the local cops are not prepared for this sort of thing and waited an hour for BORTAC (the CBP tactical unit) to arrive. Those guys are trained killers and one of them took a bullet to kill the shooter. These are the commando units that Trump ordered to beat up and kidnap protestors in unmarked vans.

(7,715 posts)Nearly 20 little kids are now gone, and it is ALL because of the RWNJ obsession that anyone can own any weapon without any essentially any restrictions.
I agree that we need to see the real story about what the cops did/didn't do.
My heart is broken. But, today, I finally joined the fight to restrict the Second Amendment. I hope that is one way to remove these poor victims of Uvalde, Buffalo, etc.

(7,715 posts)Putting aside those who find this funny, I would URGE every DUer to do what they can to stop this madness. There are a number of organizations out there that are like-minded. Also, write to your LOCAL officials to force them to make specific presentations to governing bodies as to what they are doing to stop school shootings.
