While the DOJ is dragging their ass you should have plenty of time to read up on "How the US judicial systems works . For beginners."

Their thumbs for a year because they didn't want to go after Trump. Maybe you should try reading the June 19th 2023 article in the Post, by Leonnig and Davis, on how the DOJ resisted investigating Trump?

Seeing I'm just a "beginner", and apparently don't know how the judicial system works, wouldn't the DOJ have to open an investigation before they bring charges?
