First ballot: Rep. Jim Jordan failed to win the House speakership on the initial round after 20 of his fellow Republicans voted against him. He earned 200 votes, while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries won 212.

The shitshow would continue, nothing would be accomplished, and he'd be blamed. I have to believe that the GQP would be even more eager to reck the government in order to point their slimy fingers at him.

The best solution is to find a GQP member who will keep the government limping along until 2025. As the old saw says, "First, do no harm." As long as Jordan is kept away from where he can do real damage we'll make it to the next election.

Live on TV. As it happens. By vote in the House of Reps. One-by-one. Slow torture. Trudging toward failure. A slow slog toward resounding rejection. Live on camera. Broadcast nationally. 20 votes short yesterday when the early chit-chat anticipated a single-digit failure (they have a low-single-digit majority). Just think: assuming a 4-vote majority as I’ve heard it described, the votes Jordan lost were FIVE TIMES THAT MANY. For starters.

OUCH.

Jordan suspends bid for US House speaker, backs McHenry - lawmaker

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Hardline conservative Jim Jordan told his fellow Republicans he will suspend his bid to serve as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and back Republican Patrick McHenry to fill the role on a temporary basis, a lawmaker said on Thursday.

The House has been without a leader for more than two weeks, and Jordan has twice failed to secure the 217 votes needed to claim the speaker's gavel as he has faced opposition from Democrats and more than 20 of his fellow Republicans.

Asked what he expected as he enterer a closed-door meeting with other Republicans, Jordan said only, "I'm not gonna know until I talk to my colleagues."

In that meeting, Jordan said he would not seek a third vote to win the post and instead will back a plan to empower McHenry to hold the post until January, according to Republican Representative Jim Banks.

And no matter how organized, intelligent, cohesive they were and are, the M$M loves to parrot it. Maybe it's in some autotype macro on their keyboard.

I'd love to have the major media outlets do an honest retrospective on how well they've covered news in the last year, last 5 or 10 years. Subject to independent review. Won't happen and they'll continue to lie in any case.

GOP Rep. Dismisses Pro-Jordan Strategy
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) said that Jordan's efforts to put pressure on his colleagues to vote for him for speaker — to bully them, if you will — haven't worked out so well.

"I think some of the pressure campaigns have backfired," Donalds said on Fox News. "They have not worked."

Some Republicans have bristled at Jordan's hardball tactics, which have included using his relationship with Fox News’ Sean Hannity and his associates to pressure holdout GOP members to line up behind Jordan. At least one Republican lawmaker heard directly from Hannity; another claimed he or she was threatened with a primary challenger.
