(38,231 posts)I and possibly many others consider trump and his followers to be an aberrant subspecies with which we are afflicted. Theres no we there because even trump himself has set himself apart from the concept of a country that has existed since the Constitution.

And, nobody cares what Gravano thinks about another person's character. He has none, so he's incapable of seeing it in others.
Finally, Gravano was a known liar husband entire CRIMINAL career. I'm supposed to believe his statements now?

"I tried to get him. He just wouldn't bite."

(109,636 posts)I think Gravano's following the Mafia code of silence. Trump was in deep, and so he's still being protected.
"What we see in this astonishing tweet is an implicit endorsement by the president of the United States of omertà, the Mafia code of silence, which has been honored, especially over the past 30 years or so, more in theory than in practice.
"Trump expanded upon his views this morning, in an interview on Fox & Friends, in which he seemed to refer, obliquely, though elegiacally, to the dismantling of the Mafia in New York City (an effort led for a time by his current attorney Rudy Giuliani).
Its called flipping and it almost ought to be illegal, Trump said. I know all about flipping. For 30, 40 years, I have been watching flippers. Everything is wonderful and then they get 10 years in jail and they flip on whoever the next highest one is or as high as you can go.

And, according to Gravano, Trump didn't have the option of steering clear of Trump.

(109,636 posts)Did you read the Atlantic article? The only reason he testified against John Gotti, according to Gravano, was because Gotti had double-crossed him.
The logical conclusion is that Trump has never double crossed him, so Gravano is still on Team Trump, defending him in any way he can. It's not like Gravano has any honor. He was sent back to prison after he violated his parole by running a network of Ecstasy dealers from his home.
And now Trump is holding Gravano's words up like a badge of honor.

(109,636 posts)That would have been impossible, since the mob controlled the concrete industry.

(109,636 posts)so I thought you meant it.
I really don't see any threat against anyone. It sounds like Trump is bragging about about his tough guy New York City roots, so tough even the thugs respect his integrity. He sees this as justification of his claim to be very honest.

(29,054 posts)But implicitly, he's saying, "I know a guy, youse judges better watch your backs!"
I don't see a threat either. Just one thug commenting on another thug

(8,820 posts)trump talks in code. Invoking "Sammy the Bull," a known murderer, at the beginning of his post, followed quickly by the names of the judges, makes it a threat. He knows he can't simply say he wants the judges murdered, so he just uses mafia code to say it.
It's his version of "who will rid us of this troublesome priest?"

(18,262 posts)A Mafia hit out on those two judges. Even I can see it from over 10,000 miles away.
If you cannot deduct this after eight or nine years of his involvement in US politics, you need to remove your rose coloured glasses and do a little home schooling on the very real danger of DJ Trump.

(19,532 posts)I've wondered when they'll tire of his monotonous schtick and go off to something new and shiny. The cult members, probably not any time soon, but that's not the totality of those who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. For many, his crap has got to become dull after a while. Hopefully, dull enough to keep them from the polls.

I'm voting for Joe Biden who doesn't need a character witness from the Mafia and doesn't spout Nazi rhetoric.

But please, Mr. Trump, continue to do you. Truly enlightening. The American public needs more of your 'friends' to come forward.

(44,805 posts)Not even close. The Supreme Court has held that true threats are serious expression[s] conveying that a speaker means to commit an act of unlawful violence. Using a 78 year former mobster and hitman as a character reference doesn't meet that test.

(2,317 posts)Because even a mob hitman thinks Trump cant be corrupt. Its not even remotely a death threat. Trump makes almost daily statements that show he should never be in a position of authority. We dont need to misrepresent his statements.
