If you care about the climate, please do everything you can to help
Drastically reduce (ideally try to eliminate) consumption of animal products
Travel responsibly
Avoid plastic
Buy recycled paper products and buy made from hemp or bamboo if you can afford to
Kill your lawn
Stop buying things unless you really need them
Avoid using harsh cleaners or any products that pollute water
Keep your cats indoors
I could go on. Not trying to nag. Just fighting despair.

(38,590 posts)I know a lot of people think human ingenuity will get us out of this mess, but it's not looking good right now.

In the meantime, I try and enjoy every day. Looking for the positives, the beautiful, the interesting, the amusing .
Think. Again.
(19,107 posts)Although I doubt we'll have any clue about what to prepare for.
Our planet's ecology is way too complex for us to pretend we can predict how it will react to the damage we have done.

(38,544 posts)Hurricanes are going to become more frequent and intense. Same with tornadoes, drought, forest fires and high wet bulb temps. So it'd behove those who live in such areas already affiliated with such to move. There are regions that are predicted to be less hard hit.
Think. Again.
(19,107 posts)...and food supplies will be devastated from the unpredictable rain and or drought and pollinator decline, and of course temperature chaos, and all of the things we're not even thinking of that will also be affected by all that.
It's going to be one big chaotic mess with event after event after event.

(5,900 posts)I killed my lawn by laying cardboard from the recycling center over it in the fall. In the spring I planted drought tolerant groundcovers and native plants.

(23,613 posts)She has a little hoarding problem and when I started the trash and stuff she brought were overwhelming. Clothes piled to the ceiling, trash etc. I have been separating donations, paper and trash. And have had hauling take recycling and trash a few months ago. Yesterday we trackled her refrigerator. A lot of expired food etc. So I opened packages and separated plastic, boxes and old food went into a green recycling bin. I only had 2 garage bags and 3 paper bags of old food that went into the green bin and a large contractor bag of paper. But I felt good not just throwing stuff away but recycling efficiently.

(9,445 posts)Amazon is creating a mega-warehouse and the critters are scurrying for their lives, Where I live hoards of new birds are trying to gulp down the food for our brids (as I call the ones that nest nearby). Squirrels are attacking each other as they seek to exert control. Aggressive crows are attacking our regulars such as Squawky who sometimes follows me to my job 5 miles away. But the little brids fought back and are biting the tails of much larger birds.
They are also creating an energy pipeline of windmills to service a city 20 miles away.
But today, my dear Red Queen, a little turtle came to visit. I believe it took a bite out of the cactus, so all is not lost. And do not despair.
