General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just read two WAPO articles on Biden, and both
insinuated or said that he is not popular with Dems. Then I read the first batch of comments for each - only a handful, so maybe anecdotal, but ALL COMMENTS CALLED BS AND STRONGLY SUPPORTED JOE!!
WTF????!

(30,233 posts)he falls into the "center left" part of the political spectrum. I've always been a fan of this political thought... but most Democrats I think fall into one of the other camps. I think if Barack had not picked him to be VP and if Hilary hadn't lost to Trump and if Clyburn hadn't pulled his ass out of the fire in 2020... we would have never known how good of a President he could be.

(9,739 posts)That it could get worse. And there is only so much time to ward off hungry fascists. August 19th - 22nd. He's being unfairly subjected to scrutiny which no other candidate would be. Somehow Reagan skated to reelection with Alzheimer's.
It is all so unfair.
Reagan the "former president "may have shown signs of Alzheimer's disease as early as three years into his first term."
No complaints. No biggy. So unfair. That's Capitalism.

WAPO and the MSM think that whatever pols in DC think goes. Theyre in a bubble. Joe has tried to get to Delaware as much as he could over the years. I dont think of him as DC. The DC bubble folks want one of their own or, at least, one outside the bubble who they know will quickly fall in and quickly loathe where they came from.
Regular folks are like Biden. Bureaucrats and politicians in DC are mentally warped. They eat, sleep, and drink politics.
DC does something to folks, and its not good. And its too bad too many of us see DC as the fount of all solutions. I often catch myself putting the place on a pedestal.
In my dreams, when Im inaugurated as President, Im inaugurated as President in some place like Kansas City, Denver, or Lubbock. I might even set up my office someplace like Atlanta or Cleveland.
Joe should do his next swearing in Wilmington. If nothing else, it would probably annoy John Roberts! Im sure there are plenty of jurists who could swear Joe in!

(8,216 posts)New Report Finds No Significant Change in Voter Preferences After First US Presidential Debate
President Bidens performance during the first 2024 presidential debate on June 27 prompted several prominent Democrats to call for Biden to drop out of the race, and Bidens electability has since dominated the news cycle. Coverage of post-debate election polls has factored heavily in op-eds and network news roundtables, furthering the medias fixation on Bidens viability as a candidate.
Unlike the cross-sectional surveys circulating in the news, however, the researchers behind the CHIP50 report analyzed survey data taken in April/May on candidate choice, and compared it to survey responses from the same individuals after the June 27 debate, reducing the likelihood of error due to differences in pre- and post-debate samples. They found no substantial change in candidate preference for these voters before and after the debate.

The dumbest thing that Democrats could do would be to remove the candidate that their voters want.
Indications are growing that Democrats are not in trouble but that the polls and the media are getting this election wrong.

(1,485 posts)On this thread, it really boils down to one thing. Money. This has everything to do with tax cuts or no tax cuts. Like I have said numerous times, Dems get the same tax cuts that Repugs get.
They ALL (wealthy dems and repugs) know they will lose TSF tax cuts if and when Joe wins. The rest is just a giant game.
Why else would there be such a horseshit media blitz because of a bad debate performance?
