https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/serious-presidential-candidate-answerslet’s imagine that Kamala agreed to hold a presser tomorrow. we all know what would happen: it would devolve into a shit-show. the press would waste everyone’s time — and drop our collective IQ by three points — by asking worthless questions.
“Madam Vice President, Donald Trump says you only recently became Black. what is your response?”
who fucking cares? what fresh insight could possibly be gained by asking these kinds of questions? what’s Kamala going to say, that Donny’s a racist lunatic? we already know this. what would be the point of bringing up the toxic sludge that oozes out of Donny’s rancid anus-mouth?
and, sure enough —
Dana Bash: “he suggested that you happened to turn Black, recently, for political purposes, questioning a core part of your identity.”
Kamala Harris: “same old tired playbook. next question, please.”
Bash: “that’s it?”
Harris: “that’s it.”
a perfect answer to an unserious question, followed by Dana Bash’s disappointed “that’s it?” yes, Dana, that’s it. next question, please — which is Kamalaspeak for fuck straight off with this stupid bullshit, mmmkay?

(2,445 posts)but *my* question is why is CNN playing from that playbook?
Dana Bash basically outsourced her question preparation to the Repuke talking point list.
Most of Bash's questions were GOP talking points; like phrasing the Gaza question as left wing Democratic issue instead of as a majority viewpoint.

(2,445 posts)This is who I've decided was assigned to write the questions. Unless they used ChatGPT.
Whichever it was, I'd guess they/it were assigned a list of RWNJ talking points and told to convert them into interview questions.
Not sure who it is had the access to get the talking points list from the RWNJ Talking Point Google Docs/group text chain/Private Facebook Group/fax distribution list/carrier pigeon network.

(824 posts)To any of the mainstream media anymore. There is no point. I can listen to them for five minutes and see where they are headed and what they are up to, then I turn them off. I listen to what the candidates say and that’s it. I can understand them perfectly well, I don’t need to be told by the media what was said.

(36,254 posts)How dare he question my heritage? How dare he even make it an issue? It says more about him and his prejudices than it ever could about me.
Bash was teeing Harris up with that question.

(27,725 posts)or whatever the question was, I couldn't take it anymore. Even Dana started to look a little nervous, but that could've been my imagination.

Did not Dana Bash also do the debate?
I may not survive a Trump presidency.
That is not hyperbole; Trump either does not understand or does not care about the complexities of cancer care.
In 1990, I was diagnosed with lymphoma.
In 2017, when Trump and GOP attempted to repeal, I was in my second remission.
Unfortunately, in 2019, it returned.
In 2021, I began to show success on the 5th treatment.
I achieved remission a year later.
Both Harris and Walz voted against the repeal of ACA; she in the Senate and he in the House.
ACA provides me protection against lifetime limits.
Lifetime limits is problematic for cancer patients.
1) Insurers may deny payment on treatments that could save a patient's life
2) If your provider provides you options, you may have to try a treatment before the insurer will pay for your desired choice.
3) If you are able to survive multiple failed treatments, there my be a successful treatment around the corner.
1 & 3 happened to me.
The treatment that worked for me was approved by the FDA the year before in 2020.
It was not approved by the FDA when it returned in 2019.
Insurer approved my treatment in 2021, rescinded their approval, and reversed themself on appeal.
And the reason they gave for their rejection was: "Eligible for stem cell transplant"
The problem with a stem cell transplant in my case was I was not eligible per my doctor.
Also, I could have been out of work for up to 3 to 6 months.
FMLA covers up to 12 weeks; probably, would have lost my job and would have declared bankruptcy.
Dana Bash never asks questions on how will you protect Americans who have long term preventative care?
Currently, I am undergoing maintenance treatments that cost $1 million/year.
