Kamala Harris will win the popular vote by 10 million votes. Saying that will not deter Democrats from voting.
Kamala Harris will win the Electoral College comfortably. Saying that will not deter Democrats from voting.
Florida is in play. Saying that will not deter Democrats from voting.
Texas is in play, especially Colin Allred over Ted Cruz. Saying that will not deter Democrats from voting.
I do not understand how being positive will deter Democrats from voting. People love to back winners, it's why they switch sporting teams.
Sorry but I will not stop being positive. I will not stop donating money. I will not stop helping in any way.
The Taylor Swift endorsement was a BFD, do not underestimate what that brave lady did, and FUCK YOU Putin puppet "Leon" Musk. TSF thinks his name is Leon.

Think. Again.
(21,612 posts)...toward strengthening the House and Senate races we'll need for a true trifecta.
After all we've suffered through these past years, President Harris will set this country on a phenomenally positive path if we can get the full Power of Congress behind her.

(13,692 posts)I don't believe talking about that does anything but get people more excited to vote for the winning team. But stuff discussed here is just "Preaching to the Choir" either way. Obama didn't win twice by people being careful not to express their optimism.

(13,867 posts)Taylor just gave us a great big kick-start for voter registration and motivation...We must pick up the duties of getting folks registered and to the polls! I suggest getting in touch with ones local Democratic Headquarters to see how we can all help ....We can only win with massive voter turn out....
Now it is " we the peoples" turn at activism in the war for democracy...

(20,054 posts)I support my old home town school. Have since I became aware of such things, when Roy Skinner, Bill Pace and Steve Sloan coached its teams. In athletics, they're the epitome of mediocrity, and outright futility on the gridiron. But I ain't switching.

I am hoping we can pick up some more seats in the state House and state Senate (the ultimate would be to flip the state Senate where almost all of our Democratic-lead House bills go to die)!

(612 posts)No, if we act like we're 10 points down, then we're depressed, despondent, etc. People want to vote for winners not losers. People may not even turn out if they think it's a waste of time.

Caution - I am not certain the votes will be
accurately counted and/or respected
by the losers.

(15,177 posts)Because you are right. We have feelings, thoughts, words and deeds, and all create ripples in the collective human consciousness.
Our mission is to raise human consciousness - we can easily list dozens of instances where these billionaire think tanks are promoting policies that dumb us down - attacks on K-12, banning books, going into college campuses and so on. Not to mention media reporting biased to maximize shareholder profits.
Honestly, we've been subject to the tyranny of the bronze Wall Street bull, which seems to be our national idol. And Trump is the chaos candidate, with the 4chans, incels, militias and nazis as the night owls screeching in desolate places.
I always think about a number of things when contemplating the immense power of human intent:
1. Masaru Emoto's work with how feelings, thoughts and words influence freezing patterns in water.
2. David Hawkins and his logarithmic scale of human consciousness (Power vs Force his intial work).
3. Nisha Manek's book, Bridging Science and Spirit. She's an MD who knew the great physicist William A Tiller, who proved conclusively in rigorous experimental settings, which have been replicated many times, that human intent can indeed affect matter.
There is even an international organization called the Institute of Noetic Sciences that promotes the collective raising up of human consciousness.
I do not believe it is a coincidence that we have joy, love, peace and light faced off against chaos, tyranny and individual isolation. Not at all.
Remember what Zep said: The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know.
Or of you prefer Shakespeare: There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy
Cheers!

(15,177 posts)But, I ran across an 'undecided' voter at my workplace yesterday.
Seriously. I was making conversation on the way into the building and asked her if she had watched the debate. She said she had watched 'parts of it,' and was still 'undecided' and still researching.
I told her Harris had downloaded her policy proposals on her website and to check that out.
I was kind of gobsmacked because here in my state, which is pretty blue in urban areas, here's this lady, otherwise pretty bright in working with a complex system, who is undecided. We have another employee who 'votes on the economy' and a third who once told me that if Trump was president, everything would be OK.
Seriously. Sigh.
Funny, if our media was more interested in TRUTH in news reporting than shareholder PROFITS, maybe people wouldn't be this ignorant. Because these three can tell you all about their favorite sports teams, including sophisticated analysis of nuance - injured players, coaching, stats - the whole bit.
Just like that quote from Orwell's 1984 - beer, gambling and football, and people are easy to control.
