Harris might be gaining ground in Maine's key electoral district, threatening Trump's path to White House

For political enthusiasts, attention on a single electoral vote has often focused on an Omaha-based district where Democrats have done well since Barack Obama carried it in 2008. Polls showed Biden narrowly winning there before he dropped out, and now Harris holds a solid seven-point lead. In other words, not much has changed in that district.

Meanwhile, less attention has been given to Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, where Trump won by 7 percentage points in 2020, earning a single electoral vote. Biden took the other three by winning Maine’s 1st Congressional District and the statewide vote.

However, a University of New Hampshire poll from late last month showed Harris now leading in the 2nd District, 49% to 44%, with a margin of error of 3.1% .

Then, on Friday, the Harris campaign sent its biggest surrogate yet to Maine. Gwen Walz, wife of vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz, attended events in Bangor and Portland. Earlier this year, Democratic National Committee Chair Jamie Harrison also visited the state.

Not near as many Trump signs in the yards this season. Seems like the district conservative politicians are trying for a nuanced position of voting for the person, not for the party. They know this frothing mouth breather is losing and more of the older voters are realizing the GOP ain't what conservatives used to be.

8. I'm seeing signs for local candidates going up

There are a lot of lawns with multiple GOP candidate signs, but Trump noticeably absent from the line-up.
As for Jared Golden, he's a Democrat in a purple area. A bit of a DINO, but he is the incumbent, and he is the only choice we have. I'll be voting for him, of course.
We'll see what happens in November. I'm north of Bangor, but maybe down-ballot coattails could reach us here. The state party doesn't put much money in my region, even if the Senate president is from here.

10. His ads are all about how he is working for local issues

They don't touch on the hot button ones.
He's doing what he needs to do to get reelected in a purple region while remaining a part of the Dem majority party.

Administration's border policy and voting for the SAVE act.

Should she carry that district, he could have a lot of splainin' to do. Especially if he gets carried back into office on her coattails.

Author uses "might". Is that like allegedly? For example "So and so allegedly died last night when an alleged gunman allegedly opened fire on an alleged door allegedly striking an alleged individual" story? Why the might? 12 points is pretty definitive. All these adverbs before verbs are not needed.
