there is no Democratic politician comparable to Trump - former president and current leader of the Republican Party - in encouraging political violence

Chris Murphy 🟧
It's ok to admit these two things are both true at the same time:

1. It's heartbreaking and unacceptable that Donald Trump was once again the target of political violence.

2. No leader has done more to inspire and endorse political violence than Donald Trump.

We are a traumatized nation. I’m not going to let the abuser tell me that I shouldn’t criticize him for inflicting trauma, and wanting to continue his abuse.
I don’t agree with anyone who tells democrats that they should “ tone it down” or that we are supposed to care about trump.

Nobody would tell an abuse victim to sympathize with their abuser. It’s preposterous. That victim wouldn’t care if he was run over by a Mac truck. Likewise, I am not going to feign concern about trump.

My heart breaks for my country and the violence he has brought upon us.
