Think. Again.
(15,606 posts)The plan is to create a thick cloud of chaos and confusion to disrupt every aspect of the election process, in every location that they can.

(213 posts)Bomb threats, power outages, fire alarms, actual fires, gun intimidation, possibly even actual shootings.
Be aware and be prepared. Tell all majority Democratic or progressive voting areas to have enough provisional ballots to cover all voters in their precinct in case of electrical failure.

(232 posts)perhaps the trump internal polls are showing a much tighter race in ohio than regular polls indicate. i wonder why this bullshit is taking place in ohio, a supposedly safe red state. WATCH WHAT THEY DO, NOT WHAT THEY SAY.

(10,318 posts)I'm guessing judges would order them to stay open extra time after the threat clears, but not everyone can come back.
It sucks. Absentee ballots are at risk of being rejected for some bullshit reason (and I would guess with the gender gap women's ballots will be targeted in addition to urban) and voting in person is at risk of being fouled up by things like bomb threats. I guess in states that have early in person voting that's the best bet.

(24,382 posts)All it would take is a couple McVeigh-style car bombs in Atlanta and Richmond, and we'd lose everything. I used to diss on Plato for his critique of democracy, but the longer I live the more I think he made some fair points.

(1,699 posts)humanity has reached the point where we are destroying the biosphere with our emissions, where we have the capability to destroy all higher life on Earth with nuclear weapons, and where we have the highest income/wealth inequality and we have no better alternative than democracy.
I think that the only solution is the education and engagement of the electorate.

(18,695 posts)And if this does happen to where it affects outcomes, I hope President Biden with his new found
immunity powers writes an executive order .........WHOA, not so fast, every polling place shut down
will make arrangements to counter this unforeseen act-of-God so every citizen's vote is counted.
And I give everyone 2 weeks to accomplish this feat.
In fact a week before election President Biden should do a public service announcement and inform
the public that there's a nasty rumor going around in some circles that TFG is planning on shutting down
polling stations in liberal areas and that's why he said several months back he didn't need your votes.
So vote against all these cheaters and save Democracy.
