WASHINGTON Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) on Tuesday baselessly accused an Arab American witness of supporting terrorists during a Senate hearing, and as she called out his blatant Islamophobia, the GOP senator told her to hide her head in a bag.
You support Hamas, do you not? Kennedy abruptly asked Berry, referring to the terrorist group behind the Oct. 7 attacks on southern Israel. His question drew audible gasps in the audience.
Senator, oddly enough, Im going to say thank you for that question, because it demonstrates the purpose of our hearing today, Berry responded. Hamas is a foreign terrorist organization that I do not support. But you asking the executive director of the Arab American Institute that question very much puts the focus on the issue of hate in our country.
Kennedy lashed out at Maya Berry, executive director of the Arab American Institute, a nonpartisan national civil rights advocacy organization, during her testimony before a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing focused on stemming hate crimes. Berry was the only Muslim witness in the hearing

thinks hes smart, and he tries to play the country hick comes to Washington so he can pretend hes fooling the Yankees.
But the reality is that he is too stupid to understand just how stupid he is, and how stupid he looks when he does this shit.
However, his core constituency - also quite stupid - will see this as he owned her.

(1,699 posts)In 1979, he earned a Bachelor of Civil Law (master's) degree with first class honours from Oxford University, where he was a member of Magdalen College and studied under Rupert Cross and John H.C. Morris.
It may be stupid of him to support a party which is in league with those who are destroying our biosphere. It may be stupid of him to support a party which, in a time of historic wealth inequality, seeks to increase that inequality. It may be stupid of him to support dividing the US so that we in the 90% can be further crushed into the ground. Of course he supports these policies which throw everyone and everything else under the bus because they give him power. That may be stupid. To me it seems evil. And if acting the hick makes him a laughing stock among "liberals" then it only increases his approval among his voters, insomuch as they are even aware of it.
But not everyone who is evil is ugly, or stupid, or old, or poor. And not everyone who is a decent person is good looking, or smart, or young, or rich.
Senator Kennedy may be many things, but he is not stupid.

One could argue, using Kennedy's reasoning, that if you support Republicans, you support this racist badgering grandstanding asshole.yes or no. Yes or know. Shameful.

And I wouldn't have given a fuck if I was found in contempt of Congress for it.
Odds are she was subpoenaed, she didn't ask to come to Capitol Hill.

The Democrats control the Senate. Dick Durbin, chairman of the Judiciary Committee called this hearing and invited Berry to appear. She opened her testimony by thanking the committee for giving her the opportunity to testify.

(2,602 posts)Same with my state. These moronic pols discourage investment by being representative of their constituents. Why would anyone move there, move their business there or invest in the state? They act like idiots and then complain when the money goes to blue states where they don't act as moranic. You want business, then act like a place where they'd want to be. Dumbassed Repugs forget that.
If I'm a small business owner, why would I move where dumbasses reign who could sink my life's work?

What a worthless excuse for a Senator and human being!
