Trump Just Introduced a New, Dangerous Immigration Proposal

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/09/trump-remigration-far-right-europe-immigration/

Over the weekend, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to elaborate on how he would “end the migrant invasion of America.” The candidate for president—who has repeatedly vowed to conduct the largest mass deportation campaign in US history—exhumed the usual laundry list: He would “stop all migrant flights,” do away with the Biden administration’s Customs and Border Protection mobile app, and halt refugee resettlement. None of these proposals are new or surprising coming from the Trump campaign.

But one part of the GOP nominee’s weekend post stood out. “[We will] return Kamala’s illegal migrants to their home countries (also known as remigration),” Trump wrote. Former White House senior adviser Stephen Miller reposted it, saying “THE TRUMP PLAN TO END THE INVASION OF SMALL TOWN AMERICA: REMIGRATION!”

What did Trump and Miller mean by “remigration”? Even seasoned immigration policy analysts had to look the term up:

“Remigration,” as a 2019 article about the rise of extreme anti-immigrant language in Europe from the Associated Press explains, is the “chilling notion of returning immigrants to their native lands in what amounts to a soft-style ethnic cleansing.” The word stands in for a policy that entails the forced repatriation or mass expulsion of non–ethnically European immigrants and their descendants, regardless of citizenship. With little fanfare, Trump seems to be hinting at bringing an even more radical idea into his immigration proposals (to Miller’s all-capped cheers) that goes further than the mass deportation of the undocumented population.

pass two men talking. One of them was on an electric buggy loading his car that had a disabled sticker. I overheard the disabled one say the Biden administration dumped 20,000
illegal aliens on that city, no city could handle 20,000 people dumped on them. I bet the stupid SOB is living off of a SS disability. Through the right wing echo chamber they have totally turned Trump's lie into a shot at Democrats.

Repatriation is a general term used by governments around the world, including the US, to describe the process of returning their own citizens to their home country from abroad.

The term Reimmigration as defined by.right wing policy papers in the US and Europe affects not just foreigners "legally in a country on work or asylum visas" or are over without documents but also naturalized citizens, foreign adoptions, and potentially - in the US at least - birthright citizens with at least one immigrant parent (otherwise known as anchor babies).

Not just "Immigrants" that can be repatriated because they don't have citizenship status.
Anyone who isn't at least third generation that runs afoul of "their standards" - either legal or economic standards - can be re-immigrated.

They use the term as a dog-whistle for non-white European background.
Repatriation is the common US usage/general Federal Government term used for what you describe.
I've never heard journalists - or anyone else in public, for that - use the term reimmigration. Only Right Wingers or Nationalists.

Anyway, I'm a history nut and sometimes a grammar pedant. I'll charge off to odd topics sometimes.

A new twist with even more sinister undertones.

I am SO sick of his crap. We need some new words. "Fuck Trump" just doesn't cut it anymore. It's just not strong enough to express my contempt and disgust.

Until I can come up with something better, may the fucking bird of paradise fly up his fucking nose!

He recently said, here in California, that he would deport Haitians to Venezuela. He's so stupid! What if the original countries don't permit flights of deported individuals back into their country? What's he gonna do then?

EVERYONE knows that he blocked the border bill just to have an issue to squawk about. He has no real substantive arguments about anything. He's talking about this for distraction. Tomorrow was gonna be his sentencing date.

I think that VP Harris and Biden should use Biden's new G-d-like powers to do something on the border issue, then talk it up.
